"What do music do? It keeps the world turning. If there wasn't no music, this world would be a sad place to live." - John Lee Hooker

Lurcat and Bar Lurcat Print E-mail

Lurcat & Bar Lurcat (612-486-5500), 1624 Harmon Place (across from Loring Park), Mpls. Every Sun., Latin Sounds, 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

This upscale restaurant and bar sits in the old location of the more bohemian Loring Bar and Cafe. The restaurant has expensive but excellent food. It's a great place to go when budget concerns are secondary and you have o have that perfect meal.

Bar Lurcat has a long bar. They have a small stage in the bar and the room is very bright and noisy.

A spot that sometimes has music, but not a 'music spot'. Perhaps they are changing that because Jazz88 (KBEM 88.5 FM) has begun a new series of Live Broadcasts from Bar Lurcat Thursday evenings, host Ed Garrett from 7 to 8:30 p.m. spins jazz records from the venue. At 8:30, he‚ll move to the Lurcat stage for live broadcasts of a wide diversity of local and regional jazz artists.
