The May 22nd tornado left about 5,000 homes destroyed or in need of significant repairs. A benefit featuring a Who’s Who in Twin Cities music will be held at the State Theater in downtown Minneapolis on June 12th at 5 pm with a goal of raising $100,000. These funds will assist the Northside community in their rebuilding efforts by providing charitable grant dollars to non-profit organizations whose missions are to provide shelter, food, medical services, counseling, child care, utility assistance, youth mentoring and employment opportunities to the residents of North Minneapolis. All funds will be directed to The Minneapolis Foundation, which has established a North Minneapolis Fund, and has committed a $200,000 matching grant. Tickets for 500 Northside residents affected by the storm will be distributed; tickets can be purchased for $26.50- 101.50 as of June 3; a limited number of VIP tickets are available for $251.50.

All performers are donating their talents, as are volunteers involved in event coordination, media, etc. Business and organization support is provided by Community Celebration of Place, Media Savant Communications, Planet Claire Creative, Storyslices, Smart Set Printing, Hennepin Theatre Trust, event coordinators Larry Long, Martin Keller, Catherine Reid Day, Claire Chamberlin, Sara Renner, Tonia Hughes, Jim Sheeley and Lee Ann Weimar (Hennepin Theater Trust), Pastor Dennis Oglesby, Arlana Vaughan, AVA Special Events Membership, The IATSE Local 13 union of stagehands, and the Historic Theatre Groups. Media partners include KMOJ-FM, Cities 97, The Current, 96.3 FM, and WCCO Radio & TV. The State Theater has graciously offered its performance space and staff.
