Jazz Vocalists of Minnesota—Festival Showcase and More in June Print E-mail

The Jazz Vocalists of Minnesota, an organization dedicated to supporting jazz singing through performance and education, will again perform at the annual Twin Cities Jazz Festival. This year JzVMn will be featured on the Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education/MacPhail Center for Music Stage, at the intersection of Nicollet Mall and 10th Street, on Sunday, June 29th at 12:30 pm. The set will include several ensemble arrangements. Other gigs of JzVMn members are noted below.  

Roxy Cruz

  • June 3, 8 pm, with Joe Cruz a the Washington Square Bar and Grill (White Bear Lake)
 

Connie Dusseau

  • June 5, 12, 19, 26, 7-9 pm, “Connie and Herb”  with Herb Reinke (guitar) at Dunn Brothers (Anoka)
  • June 27, 6-10 pm with Pizzazz Jazz at Champps (Eden Prairie)

Lee Engele

  • June 1, 7-10 pm, “Cole Underground,” a night of music from the Cole Porter Songbook performed with Rhonda Laurie, featuring Chris Lomheim and Graydon Peterson, at the Artists Quarter (St Paul)
  • June 6, 8-10 pm, with “Cool Cat Phat Jazz” at The Space for Creativity (New Richmond, WI)
  • June 14, 7 – 10 pm, with Kyle Tennis (guitar) & Jason McLean (bass) at Sage Wine Bar (Mendota Heights)
 

Nancy Harms

  • June 13, 9 pm-1 am with Rick Carlson, Keith Boyles and Nathan Norman at Rossi's (Minneapolis)
  • June 14, 9 pm to 1 am at Rossi's (Minneapolis)
  • June 27-28, 9 pm to 1 am at Rossi's (Minneapolis)
  • June 29, with Twin Cities Hot Club at Octoplexy (lindy hop exchange)

  • June 7, 9-10 pm with jazz guitarist John Ganapes at a Night of a Thousand Frolics (a fundraiser for the Twin Cities T'ai Chi Ch'uan Studio) at Triune Masonic Temple (St. Paul)
  • June 12, 7-10 pm with the Minnesota Jazz Orchestra at the Wabasha Street Caves (St. Paul)
  • June 22, 2 pm with the Minnesota Jazz Orchestra at the Lake Harriet Bandshell (Minneapolis)

 

Vicky Mountain

  • June 3 with Lori Dokken at the Times (Minneapolis). The early set (7:15 - 8:30) features a few of Vicky’s students (Anne Marie Mischel, Kate Burek, Laura Littleford and Dana Bennett).  Vicky sings the late set at about 8:45-10:30 pm.
