 Tony DeSare by Bill Westmoreland One of the longest running straight ahead jazz festivals in the Northeast, the sanofi-aventis Jazzfest presented by the New Jersey Jazz Society will bring more than 120 musicians to the campus of Drew University in Madison, New Jersey starting with a free concert at 7:00 PM on Friday evening, June 6 and continuing all day Saturday and Sunday, June 7-8. The gates open at 11:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday. A few of the musicians featured include Bucky Pizzarelli, Nicki Parrott, Cynthia Sayer, Tony DeSare, Jerry Vezza, Cat Russell, Houston Person, Carrie Jackson, Joe Temperley and Eric Comstock. - Ed Metz and the Bob Cats James Dean Big Band
- The Bob Crosby Bob Cats under the direction of Ed Metz: For more than 60 years the Bob Cats have set the standard for Chicago style jazz and they will have you tapping your feet with joy.
- The James Dean Big Band will have you out on the dance floor with their infectious swing band as they pay tribute to the dance bands of the 1930s and 40s. Their special guest is Mike Vax, for many years the lead trumpet player with Stan Kenton.
- Bucky Pizzarelli, Nicki Parrott and Rossano Sportiello: This guitar/bass/piano trio brings together three virtuoso musicians who really know how to swing!
- Cynthia Sayer and Sparks Fly features one of today’s top jazz banjo players who is very much in demand, having toured the world and played with the likes of Woody Allen, Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Davern and Les Paul. Joining Cynthia will be trumpeter Randy Sandke, trombonist Jim Fryer, bassist Jennifer Vincent and drummer Joe Ascione.
- Tony DeSare Trio: Often compared to Frank Sinatra, DeSare has a special connection with young audiences much the same way the Chairman of the Board did back in the day.
- Jerry Vezza Trio with Frank Noviello: See for yourself why Jerry Vezza concerts consistently sell out; this group is amazing!

- Joe Temperley - Baritone Sax Carrie Jackson - jazz vocalist
- The Joe Temperley Quintet: Continuing the rich baritone sax tradition of Harry Carney, Gerry Mulligan and Pepper Adams, Joe Temperley is a musician’s musician. Joe will have pianist Dan Nimmer, guitarist James Chirillo, bassist Greg Cohen and drummer Leroy Williams swinging along.
- Carrie Jackson and Her Jazzin’ All-Stars: Newark’s Carrie Jackson puts her unique vocal stamp on the Great American Songbook accompanied by her swinging group.
- Eric Comstock - vocalist Earl May - jazz bassist
- Eric Comstock Trio with Barbara Fasano: The New Yorker called pianist/vocalist Eric Comstock “an icon in the making” and you’ll agree after hearing him perform. Barbara Fasano will be adding her vocal artistry to Eric's sets. This husband and wife team has been garnering rave reviews all over the country.
- Earl May Tribute Band: In memory of one of New Jersey's most popular jazz musicians, the New Jersey Jazz Society is pleased to present this wonderful tribute band comprised of pianist Larry Ham, alto saxman Dave Glasser and drummer Eddie Locke, the remaining members of the Earl May Quartet, plus special guests Houston Person on tenor sax, Benny Powell on trombone, Bob Cranshaw on bass and Catherine Russell handling the vocals.
