The Women in Jazz Fesival 2008 will take place on Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6, at Saint Peter’s Church' 619 Lexington Avenue at 54th Street in New York City.

International Women In Jazz (www.internationalwomeninjazz.com) and Midtown Arts Common will present their second annual jazz festival honoring super jazz legends Celia Cruz, Ella Fitzgerald, and Peggy Lee (displaying their history in photographs and music), and living jazz legends Sarah McLawler, Marian McPartland, and Carline Ray (featuring the living legends in a panel discussion). The festival will include: live jazz jam with college students and other musicians, business management panel discussion, "What Is Jazz?" workshop for youth, concerts featuring dynamic bands led by women jazz musicians, and major concerts Saturday and Sunday evenings.

International Women in Jazz and Midtown Arts Common (of which Saint Peter’s Church/Jazz Ministry is a member) are continuing their partnership. They are presenting this festival to recognize the achievements and significance of women jazz musicians and to give women jazz musicians the opportunity to share their talent with other members of the jazz world.
