December 4, 1961 performance shot in Baden - Baden, West Germany for the German TV. He is accompanied by Eric Dolphy on flute and alto sax, McCoy Tyner on piano Reggie Workman on bass and Elvin Jones on drums. This is Impressions, Coltrane's modal opus, where the quintet experiments with jazz expression by delving deeply into modality in a tour - de - force performance.
