“It’s the group sound that’s important, even when you’re playing a solo. You not only have to know your own instrument, you must know the others and how to back them up at all times. That’s jazz.” - Oscar Peterson

Sabertooth CD Release at the Green Mill January 4th Print E-mail
Written by Ronaldo Oregano
Monday, 31 December 2007
“Mallinger's partnership in Sabertooth with tenor saxist Cameron Pfiffner recalls the fabled duo of Zoot Sims and Al Cohn, tenorists who decades earlier battled against each other one moment, traded silken ballad phrases the next. Add the terrific organist Pete Benson and drummer Ted Sirota into the mix, and you understand why this engagement has thrived for so many years." -Chicago Tribune Dec. 2007
