Cross Town

Over several years Hernandez has had four CDs released.  ‘Cross Town is quite new and, in my opinion, the best musically.  It swings!  Aided by Lou Shoch on bass and Larry Klein on drums, Hernandez plays with the ultimate soul in all her music.  The first two tunes are “Angel Eyes” and “Back to the Chicken Shack,” showing the range of tunes in the CD.  The trio plays with versatility, making for strong arrangements. There are nine tunes in all, including “You’ve Changed,” “The Breeze and I” and “Tin Tin Deo.” Hernandez has written three originals, including the title track. Her piano playing reflects Harris’ fine influence. The Karen Hernandez trio holds forth at Mr. B’s in Burbank every Thursday night.
