The Hughes House parlor, located in the land-marked brownstone of poet Langston Hughes is one of Harlem's newest and most intimate music venues. Established by producer/peformers Shon Chance Miller and Marc Cary along with the Motema Music label, led by Jana Herzen. The venuefeatures fine acoustics and a fabulous Fazioli Grand Piano.  Performances at the Hughes House include a regular Thursday night spoken word/open mic Hosted by La Bruja, Sunday Jazz & Afternoon tea plus various musical and theatrical performances which often include talent from the Motema roster which includes guitarist, Roni Ben-Hur; pianists Lynne Arriale and Marc Cary, bassist Rufus Reid, The Kit McClure Band and percussionists Babatunde Lea & Bujo Kevin Jones.
