Nothing warms you from head to toe in January like a hot set of jazz. In the Twin Cities, we’re fortunate to have many options on any given night, and at most venues there is modest cover if any at all. And unlike New York, there’s never a “minimum” at the bar. Recommended this month:

  • January 18, 9 pm—Phil Hey Quartet ($4). Four virtuoso led by drum master Hey.

  • January 25, 9 pm—Tanner Taylor Trio ($4). Young piano monster.
