Twin Cities Hot Club © Andera Canter Looking
for jazz to ring in the New Year? You have many options, from the
$100/per dinner package at the Dakota to a cover-free gig at the
Times, from vocalists to Big Bands to the Minnesota Jazz Orchestra. Don’t
want to be on the road after midnight? Start your celebration with an
early set at Rossi’s or an afternoon at the Mainstreet Bar &
Grill in Hopkins. You can put on your dancing shoes at Matty B’s or
enjoy “the youngest old guy” in St. Paul (Irv Williams) at the
Artists Quarter. Here’s a list of Twin Cities jazz parties on New
Year’s Eve.
Artists Quarter (408 St. Peter Street, St Paul;
612-292-1359). It’s the annual bash with singer Carole Martin and
the Irv Williams Quartet. That’s nearly 150 years worth of jazz
experience right there….It’s also the one night each year when you can
actually eat at the AQ! $28 for buffet, music, champagne and surprises.
Dakota Jazz Club &
Restaurant (1010
Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis; 612-332-1010). Newcomer Tommy Robinson

Henry and friends provide the entertainment at 9 pm, and Chef Jack
Riebel provides the multi-course dinner. $100 per person.

It’s vocalist Arne Fogel’s party and you’re invited! Bring your dancing
shoes. Dinner seatings at 5, 7 and 9 pm—4-course dinner $75; $15 after
