"In my world, the first thing I reach for is the sound. Technique is Ok, but if you got the technique and I got a good sound, I'll beat you every time. You can play a thousand notes and I can play one note and wipe you out. What I reach for is ... a sound." -Dewey Redman

JazzPolice.com has been nominated for Minnesota Online Music Media of the Year for the 2006 Minnesota Music Awards. We would like to thank all who voted to nominate us! This is the first time a Jazz focused website has been nominated for Online Music Media of the Year, and we are very grateful for the recognition.

Image JazzPolice.com is an online Jazz and travel information website in its' 3rd year of operation. JazzPolice.com has a mission of promoting the best of live jazz in local communities nationwide, particularly for travelers. This service is a benefit to traveling jazz fans who are looking to enjoy great live jazz when on the road. It also helps local jazz clubs and restaurants by sending more out-of-town dollars to their businesses. By helping people find live music we hope to help increase demand for live jazz so, as the late Dewey Redman once said, “musicians can keep appearing and stop disappearing”.

26th Annual Minnesota Music Awards Ceremony will be hosted by Mary Lucia and Brian Oake on Sunday, October 1st at the fabled First Avenue Club in Minneapolis. The Minnesota Music Academy was established in 1985 to promote the accomplishments of the Minnesota music community and to provide recognition for those Minnesota musicians who made exceptional contributions to the vitality of Minnesota music. Since its creation, the MMA has produced musical showcases, music-related educational forums and has produced the Minnesota Music Awards. The success of the MMA is evident by its loyal membership which consists of musicians, audio-technicians, producers, engineers, agents, club managers and owners, music-related artists, music-related businesses and appreciators of Minnesota music.
