The De Capo Jazz & Blues Lovers Guide to the U.S. says - Think of a quirky cross between bop and the Bounty sailing ship and you'll come up with this one-of-a-kind jazz venue: a mock 18th century vessel landlocked in the city's Buckhead district. Thanks to Atlanta's mercurial jazz club history, this operation, named for its owner, Dante Stephenson, is the oldest club in the city, operating since 1970. Adorned with all types of seafaring artifacts, including portholes, wooden boothes, fishnets, and anchors spread out over 13 levels, the club can entertain up to 400 patrons. Mainstream jazz by top local musicians is presented on the lower deck, while national names uch as Max Roach and Keith Jarrett have also performed here. Jazz six nights a week.
