Grammy Awards in the Field of Jazz Print E-mail

The 48th Grammy Awards on February 8th announced winners in the jazz field, including Wayne Shorter's "Beyond the Sound Barier" for Best Jazz Intrumental Album, Dianne Reeves "Good Night, And Good Luck" as Best Jazz Vocal Album, Pat Metheny Group "This Way Up" as Best Contemporary Jazz Album, and Eddie Palmier's "Listen Here!" as Best Latin Jazz Album, Dave Holland Big Band's "Overtime" won Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album.For Best Jazz Instrumental Solo the acadamy selected "Why Was I Born?" Sonny Rollins, soloist fro m"Without A Song - The 9/11 Concert" on Milestone record.

Jazz artists won awards outside of the Jazz field as well. Les Paul received grammys in both Pop and Rock fields for sseperate performances from American Made, World Played".
