Buster Williams' "Something More" is an all star group featuring Stefon Harris on Vibes, Lenny White on Drums, and George Colligan on Piano. In a whirlwind tour Buster Williams with his ensemble will hit eight venues in twelve days. From Ann Arbor through Ohio and touching Indiana and Pennsylvania. Since I last heard this group Grammy Nominee vibraphonist Stefon Harris has replaced Steve Nelson who is currently touring with Dave Holland, and pianist George Colligan has replaced Patrice Rushen. From Ann Arbor through Ohio and touching Indiana and Pennsylvania.

Bassist Buster Williams has been at the forefront of his instrument for over 40 years. His skills as a bassist and composer have been utilized by many jazz legends including Herbie Hancock, Dexter Gordon, Jimmy Heath, Nancy Wilson, Shirley Horn, The Jazz Crusaders and the list goes on and on. As a leader Buster has recorded over 10 CD's and has appeared with his group throughout North America, Europe, and Japan. There are few players in jazz who have the depth and experience of Buster Williams. In addition to his recordings as a sideman and leader, he has worked in film, and has appeared on national television on numerous occasions.

Stefon Harris is a native of Albany, New York. The 31-year-old began playing piano at six and branched out from there, attaining the principal percussionist chair with the Empire State Youth Orchestra as a high school student and went on to graduate from the Manhattan School of Music.

Harris received 3 Grammy nominations in 2003 for his recording, Grand Unification Theory, and various awards from Jazz Times, Downbeat, Jazziz, the Jazz Journalists Association. In addition to leading his own group, "Black Out", Harris has performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and Dutch Metropole Orchestra, and at the North Sea and Umbria Jazz Festivals, as well as tours of South Africa, Brazil, and Europe. Among his recording credits include partnerships with Max Roach, Wynton Marsalis, Cassandra Wilson, Charlie Hunter, and many other top jazz artists. Additionally he conducts numerous clinics and workshops at schools and universities throughout the country.

ImageGeorge Colligan has been on the New York scene since moving to Brooklyn in 1995. He has toured, recorded, and performed as a sideman with Cassandra Wilson, Gary Bartz, Gary Thomas, Eddie Henderson, Buster Williams, Ralph Peterson, Vanessa Rubin, Steve Wilson, Jane Monheit, Michael Brecker, Nicholas Payton, Christian McBride, Billy Hart, Mingus Big Band, Rodney Holmes, Mark Turner, David Binney, Don Braden, Lee Konitz and Stefon Harris, among others. In addition to his work as a band leader, George currently is first call pianist for the bands of Don Byron, Lonnie Plaxico, Robin Eubanks, David Gilmore, Ravi Coltrane and Greg Tardy. He also travel to Spain frequently as a member of the New York Flamenco Reunion, a jazz flamenco project led by Spanish drummer Marc Miralta. Recent highlights of George's activities would include his tenure with Grammy winning vocalist Cassandra Wilson from 1999 to 2001. Included in the 60 or so recordings that George appears on are 11 that he has released as a leader for the Steeplechase and Fresh Sound labels. The most recent Steeplechase recording is A Wish, a duo session with Danish bass player Jesper Bodilsen. Como la Vida Puede Ser was recently released on the Fresh Sound Label and features Flamenco and Latin influenced original compositions.

ImageLenny White, along with Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Al Di Meola, helped define Jazz-Fusion with the Grammy Award winning group, Return To Forever. 1968 was the year the great Jackie McLean asked an 18 year old Lenny to be a part of his band. The two drummers Jackie had employed right before Lenny were Tony Williams and Jack DeJohnette. Lenny was baptized in 1969 as a teenager on the landmark recording Bitches Brew with Miles Davis. That recording helped change the face of music for the next 30 years. He was also on trumpeter Freddie Hubbard's famous Red Clay along with greats Herbie Hancock, the late great Joe Henderson and Ron Carter. Lenny has been a part of more than a few landmark recordings. Lenny has also recorded eleven albums as a leader.
