Eric Dolphy: “When you hear music, after it’s over, it’s gone, in the air, you can never capture it again.”

Dave Liebman Big Band 10/13 in Denver Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Tuesday, 13 September 2005
Dave Liebman Big Band performs on Thursday, October 13, at the Concert Hall, King Center, Auraria campus, 900 9th St. Pkwy at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 gen. admission; $10-$5 for students.

This isn't the big band your grandmother remembers!

The Grammy-nominated artist is considered to be “one of the most important saxophonists in contemporary music,” as well as the ubiquitous “musician’s musician.” Since Liebman’s discovery of jazz music at twelve (when he saw John Coltrane perform at Birdland and Half Note), he has played alongside jazz masters Miles Davis, Elvin Jones, Chick Corea, and John Scofield, adding his unique saxophone style to the global voice.

Dave Liebman and fellow band members will redefine jazz this evening in their first visit to Denver--that could be the last. cudenver.edu/cam/events
