"The older you are, you do become a better player. The reason is that, not only on the knowledge side, you get older and your body can control things better. The more time you spend with your instrument, the better control you have over it. The more life you live, the more you can bring to your art." - Wallace Roney

The Flip Organ Trio is an exciting musical entity based in San Francisco. Their sound combines jazz, funk, soul, hip hop and rock into a unique and powerful experience. The trio consists of Ramon Lazo on organ, Tony Orbasido on guitar and Matt Swindells on drum set.

These fine musicians represent cumulatively over 50 years professional experience in various types of music and performances worldwide. Ramon Lazo, born in the Philippines and raised in San Francisco was a member of Michael Franti & Spearhead and participated in that band's two breakthrough records, “Stay Human” (which recently reached Gold status in albums sold in Australia this year) and “Live at the Baobab”. He is also a prodigious producer having released over a dozen albums for various clients during the past decade including “UNION HALL SESSION: OCTOBER 2004”, the Flip Organ Trio debut record for FLIP Productions. Tony Orbasido was also born in the Philippines and has toured worldwide for nearly a decade for ReyCard Duet, a popular Filipino variety act. His touring experience includes shows in Japan, Thailand, China, South America and Europe. Additionally, he was a member of the popular swing band Lee Press-On and The Nails (1999 to 2004).

Matt Swindells, originally from Manchester, England was a member of the Fila Brasilia , a popular electronica band that specializes in deep Brasilian grooves over techno produced drumbeats. Matt has also toured extensively worldwide including the Mt. Fuji Rock Festival where he played to arena sized audiences. Matt is also a fine singer songwriter and has released his own self-titled EP. Flip Organ Trio continues to expand its fan base with gigs around the San Francisco Bay Area where they play to enthusiastic young audiences. The band credits their popularity to other artists who have influenced their sound. If you listen closely, as the good Flip Trio fans have done, you will hear musical snatches of: Soulive, Larry Young, Tony Williams Lifetime, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Jimmy Smith, Joey DeFrancesco and Parliament/Funkadelic.

The Trio is currently making plans to record their second independent album and will feature all original material. This album is as yet untitled but will be released sometime in Winter 2005/2006.
