The BBC producer, wrote the following about the Brecon Fest: “. . . spoke with Peter King, Phil Woods, Slide Hampton, James Moody, Antonio Hart, Paquito D'Rivera, Jon Faddis and Jimmy Cobb, all of whom were playing in the festival as part of it's tribute to Charlie Parker. So we have some great interviews already, but I'm looking forward to seeing you all in Kansas (City) and doing the Parker tour!”

Dean Hampton is carrying on coordinating the KC traditional celebratory “21-Sax Salute” at the grave site of Charlie Parker. The “21-Sax Salute” is usually held annually on Bird's birthday (August 29th), but will be conducted this year on Sunday, August 28 at 1:30 p.m. in order to accomdate the BBC film crew itinerary. The “21-Sax Salute” was initially started by Eddie Baker and features a collective performance that usually always brings out many of the top saxophonists based in the Kansas City area.

The “21-Sax Salute” performance is free and will be a part of the BBC's filming at the site. While the BBC producer and his film crew are in Kansas City, they will also be spending considerable time with Chuck Haddix, Jay McShann, and interviewing others who knew and/or played with Parker. They will be visiting/filming the recently discovered home where Bird lived. And most certainly, they will be visiting and filming at the Mutual Musicians Foundation and the American Jazz Museum.
