Chicago Jazz Ensemble Offers Multiple Opportunities to Experience World-Class Jazz in Local Summer Settings

Image This past season was incredibly successful and we are hard at work putting together the dates for our 40th Anniversary Year Celebration. We hope that all of you will come out and join us in our year-long celebration to four decades of artistic excellence.

To help us kick off the start of this 40th Anniversary Year, we have two exciting opportunities to come out and hear the Ensemble and Artistic Director Jon Faddis, for FREE this Summer!

The Chicago Jazz Ensemble, in conjunction with the City of Chicago, announces two exciting upcoming performances at downtown Chicago's Millennium Park and Grant Park on Thursday, July 14, and Sunday, September 4, respectively.

The July performance is part of Made in Chicago: A Jazz Celebration presented by The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and the Chicago Jazz Institute. The concert takes place at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park on Thursday, July 14 at 6:30 p.m. Seating at this event is free of charge and available on a first come, first served basis.

The second opportunity to catch the CJE happens during this year's 27th Annual Chicago Jazz Festival, September 1-4. This year the CJE will close out the weekend's festivities with a performance by Artist-In-Residence Slide Hampton on Sunday, September 4 from 7:10p.m.-8:10 p.m. at the Petrillo Music Shell in Grant Park. As highly regarded for his writing as his playing, Hampton is a jazz trombonist icon who will conduct the Ensemble. This concert is also free to the public and is proudly sponsored by the City of Chicago, Mayor's Office of Special Events, U.S. Cellular, and is programmed by the Jazz Institute of Chicago.

We hope you all will take advantage of these great opportunities to hear the Ensemble and hope to see you out at the shows!
