MINNEAPOLIS, MN - The <a href="http://www.jazzisnow.org" target="_self">Jazz is NOW!</a> Orchestra, led by internationally
acclaimed bassist Anthony Cox, will present its first public performance
at Bryant Lake Bowl (810 W. Lake St.) on Thursday, Feb. 10 at 10 p.m. The
orchestra will debut original pieces that will be featured later this
spring in local performances with national guest artists from the Lincoln
Center Jazz Orchestra.
On Feb. 26, also at Bryant Lake Bowl at 10 p.m., the Jazz is NOW!
Composer's Ensemble will play in its first public performance. The
ensemble is a small rotating cast of musicians from both the Orchestra and
the local jazz community, and is dedicated to the exploration and
interaction of players in smaller combo settings.

The nine-piece Jazz is NOW! Orchestra was created by Jazz is NOW! Artistic
Director Jeremy Walker and is influenced by the hard-swinging,
freewheeling sound found in the spirit of Charles Mingus and the historic
territory bands of the Midwest. The Jazz is NOW! Orchestra is: Matt
Darling (trombone), Scott Fultz (tenor saxophone), Kelly Rossum (trumpet),
Peter Schimke (piano), Chris Thomson (tenor saxophone), Jeremy Walker
(alto saxophone), Kevin Washington (drums), and Anthony Cox. The Jazz is
NOW! Orchestra is a recent recipient of a Jerome Foundation Centennial
Grant.

founded by City Pages' "Best Local Impresarios, 2003," Jeremy Walker and
Marsha Palmer. Jazz is NOW! began its programming at Walker's club
Brilliant Corners - named by Downbeat magazine as one of the "100 Great
Jazz Clubs" worldwide after only 12 months of operation. Jazz is NOW! is
dedicated to building the culture and community of jazz through
