... it is very difficult to put music into words. .. I am reminded of a Picasso-statement. One time a writer asked Picasso: "What does this painting mean?" And Picasso answered: "If I knew that I would be a writer.". -Dewey Redman

The Blue Nile on Frenchmen Street is a popular atmospheric music club offering live performances from famous and up-and-coming jazz, blues, rock and funk acts. I'd recommend catching New Orleans Piano legend Henry Butler who is there every Thursday night, or Kermit Ruffins who frequently plays here on Saturday nights. There is also salsa dancing and Latin Jazz every Friday from Freddie Omar and his band. They serve food and also offer an extensive selection of imported draft beers. Live music Tuesday through Sunday starting at 8.
