"I know from listening and working with him [Coltrane], that he is, he plays SO much, and he has, a big, as we say, a bag, not a bag of tricks, but a bag of ideas that he has" - Eric Dolphy

As gauzy and abstract as a half-remembered dream, bassist Didier Petit's solo rendition of "Over the Rainbow" fiddles with the way we perceive temporal continuity. Reedmaster and trans-Atlantic high-five instigator Michel Portal leads a pack of crack practitioners through dangerous Dark Magus-era Miles territory on the locally recorded "Minneapolis." Fat Kid Wednesdays and Happy Apple bring even more rock to the party, along with a healthy measure of levity.- Rod Smith, from the CD review in the City Pages

The free CD in give-away #21, the classic "Live Around the World" by Miles Davis, was won by L .Motwani in Tucson, AZ.

The free CD in give-away #20 was the great "Pieces of Dreams" by Carole Martin was won by E. Mays in Stevensville Michigan.

"Pieces of Dreams" by Minneapolis singer Carole Martin is Described by Jazz writer Tom Surowicz who contributes regularly to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

"Carole Martin sounds better than ever. Her voice has darkened, deepened and matured, without losing any of its flow or glow. She gets inside lyrics and moves listeners, personalizing the poetry. SheL. now has the voice of experience, to go with the still-supple sound of enchantment. The opening line of this album couldn't be more apt. The scene is set for dreaming... Indeed!

The free CD in give-away #19,"Somethin' Else" was won by B Conner in Maple Grove MN. "Somethin' Else" is one of the best known record dates in the history of modern jazz, the chemistry among Cannonball Adderley, Miles Davis, Hank Jones, Sam Jones and Art Blakey is amazing. Their radical reworkings of "Autumn Leaves" and "Love For Sale" are masterpieces. Miles' title tune and Nat Adderley's "One For Daddy-O" are classics.

The free CD in give-away #18, the new release "Them That Swingeth" was won by Rick Borgen in Batron Rouge, LA. "Them That Swingeth" features Eddie Landsberg on the Hammond B3 organ along with drummer Rudy Petschuaer and tenor sax man Jerry Weldon, and guitarist Royce Campbell .
