“It’s like a language. You learn the alphabet, which are the scales. You learn sentences, which are the chords. And then you talk extemporaneously with the horn. It’s a wonderful thing to speak extemporaneously, which is something I’ve never gotten the hang of. But musically I love to talk just off the top of my head. And that’s what jazz music is all about.” - Stan Getz

Listed in Downbeat Magazine's 2004 issue "100 Great Jazz Clubs"

The premier jazz venue in St. Louis with top-name national acts and the best local jazz artists.  Downbeat Magazine says, "This intimate non-profit club/restaurant....you'll hear heavyweights (Ahmad Jamal, Jimmy Smith), singers (Jane Monheit, Carla Cook) and up-and-comers."

Intimate (100 seats), fine sight lines and great sound. Not a bad seat in the house.

Located at 3536 Washington Avenue, Jazz at the Bistro is located across from the Fox Theatre and in the heart of the Grand Center Arts District. Student and group discounts are available. For more information, please call 314-531-1012. Jazz at the Bistro is a not-for-profit organization.
